I have always been an active person. From walking to fitness classes, I love it all. It’s my happy place, a place to let go of the stress from the day. Even though I was very consistent in my activity, I never dropped a pound. That was very frustrating.
After my husband’s injury in August of 2022, our lives changed drastically for several months. It became a very stressful time for us, which meant stress eating for me. Exercising became something that wasn’t a priority. In November 2022, our situation changed a bit, and I decided it was time to get back on track.
I started seeing a fitness challenge being advertised on Facebook at The Diet Doc/Nautilus gym in Fairmont. After some discussion with my husband, I decided to give it a try. It included The Diet Doc, a full gym membership which included Functional Fitness classes. It started in January 2023. I was nervous. A new gym, new people, I had gained 20 extra pounds…could I do this?
Here we are, almost one year later and I’m so happy. I have never felt better. I have the best gym family. Everyone is so supportive. The gym is amazing (I would get lost going to the bathroom 🤣). It has everything you need.
Thanks to Steve and The Diet Doc program, I am down 45 pounds in just under a year. He is extremely supportive and patient (I am not his easiest client—a bit hard-headed). He’s always available for questions or when I need someone to remind me that it’s OK not to be perfect with my diet. One day of eating “heavy” is not going to ruin months of consistent hard work. I’m now also working with a personal trainer at the gym.
I’m lean and building muscle, which is very important at my age and stage of life, getting ready to head into my 50s.
I’ve set some pretty significant goals for myself to accomplish this 2024. I’m so blessed to have Steve and his staff, my gym family, to support me and help me reach my goals. I can’t thank him enough. I am truly blessed.

I turned 64 in August, and I’m in the best shape that I’ve been in for the last 30 years. I started this journey to get back the discipline that I had years ago, not really considering that I may win a lifetime membership to the gym. But that’s what happened.
In the 3 months from January to April 2023, I lost over 30 pounds. I had the discipline with my diet and workouts that I hadn’t had in so many years. I feel 10 years younger, and I’ve changed my life forever.
The first few weeks were the toughest, breaking old habits and committing to a workout schedule. But a couple of weeks in, the diet was much easier, and I was looking forward to the workouts. I challenged myself not only to lose weight, but to lift heavier and become stronger. Because of this, I was able to lose the weight while maintaining my muscle.
The support from Steve, the trainers, and the other participants helped me reach and surpass my goal. I didn’t quit in April. Instead, I’ve stepped up my game and have added personal training to my regimen.
The lifetime membership or losing 30 pounds isn’t the prize for me. The energy that I feel every day, the ability to work all day without wondering how I will feel the next day, and the fact that I can get on the ground to play with my grandkids or walk through the woods with them have been the real wins. I’m healthier and stronger than I’ve been in years. I have the discipline back that I was looking for.
I’m looking forward to a new year (and a lifetime) with new challenges in my health and fitness journey.

I started this journey on January 9, 2023, thinking that this would be yet another attempt at losing weight. It’s typical for me to diet in January, only to gain the weight back by the end of the same year. What I didn’t know is that this would be an entire change in my lifestyle.
These pictures are between January and April of 2023. What a difference in the way I look, but even more in the way that I feel. The best part is that it didn’t end in April; I have continued to lose weight and get stronger since then.
I set a goal of doing 10 regular pushups by my 50th birthday in September (for the first time in my entire life), and I achieved that goal. In January, I couldn’t even do 10 modified pushups. This is not just about weight loss, but about the quality of my life.
The Diet Doc program has changed the way I eat and feel about food, and the amazing trainers have changed the way I feel about fitness. It really is a community of people that care about others and their quality of life. I haven’t run across one person at this gym that hasn’t been encouraging and helpful.
If you’re ready not only to lose weight, but to change your life, this is the way to go. The program and the community are amazing.

Last February I started with Steve, having been recommended by a friend. I was weighing around 310 pounds, fluctuating down to the 290s and up to the 320s.
Steve explained how food works and started me off at 160 carbs per day. The first couple days were rough, just like he said. But in the first week I lost 15 pounds. Then he started adding more carbs per day and had me having not one but two cheat days per week. Every week, I came in and he told me that I was losing too much too fast and kept raising my carbs up. Eventually, he had me at 400 carbs a day!
I’ve lost 100 pounds doing as he says, and my workouts are still killing it. Total life changer. Thanks Steve!

I was advised by my brother-in-law to try The Diet Doc after an illness my husband had gone through to get his health on track. Little did I know I was the one who would be blessed the most by Steve and The Diet Doc program. It’s the easiest lifestyle change I’ve ever made.
It’s been a year and a half since starting, and we are still doing great. My husband lost 25 pounds and I lost 55 pounds.
