With over 40 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry, Steve J. Dodd is deeply passionate about health, fitness, and helping others unlock their full potential. As the owner of Nautilus Connection and The Diet Doc Weight Loss, Steve has dedicated his career to providing personalized training and nutrition guidance that empowers individuals to transform their bodies and lives. His expertise has been shaped by formal education, hands-on experience, and a deep commitment to continually expanding his knowledge.
Steve’s journey into the fitness industry began under unexpected circumstances. After a life-changing car accident at 17, he was thrown through the windshield, across the interstate, and onto the median. The responding ambulance broke down on the way to the scene. A second unit was dispatched but caught on fire. Without another ambulance available in the town of Fairmont, rescuers from West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown raced to Steve. The doctors at WVU Hospital were uniquely equipped to diagnose internal bleeding quickly and saved his life. If Steve had been taken to the local hospital in Fairmont, the destination of the first two disabled ambulances, he was told he would not have survived. Steve stayed in the hospital for thirty days and was treated for a concussion, fractured skull, four cracked vertebrae, a severely crushed right knee, severed left ear, and a laceration to this throat that nearly cut his jugular vein. After knee surgery, Steve gained a lot of weight, and against his doctors' orders, he began exercising in the gym on his own at a local gym.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and an Associates of Science in Drafting & Design, which helped him develop a strategic and efficient approach to fitness facility management and equipment design. He also holds certifications such as AFPA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, Nautilus Certified Training Instructor, and Chris Aceto Nutrition Certification—Chris Aceto being a leading expert in bodybuilding nutrition. Steve’s comprehensive background includes specialized training in Special Populations, focusing on those with heart issues, high blood pressure, and other physical ailments, making him uniquely qualified to tailor fitness plans for individuals with specific health concerns.
Throughout his career, Steve has continually sought out knowledge from the best in the industry. He attended the Joe Weiders Muscle & Fitness Bodybuilding Clinic at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and the Arnold Schwarzenegger Bodybuilding Clinic in Ohio. He also participated in seminars led by prominent figures such as Tom Deters DC, Fred Hatfield Ph.D., Frank Zane, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, to name a few. These experiences have expanded Steve’s ability to offer comprehensive fitness strategies, training techniques, and nutrition plans tailored to individuals of all levels.
As a passionate entrepreneur, Steve purchased Nautilus Connection in 1987 and transformed it from a small gym into a thriving 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art fitness facility. Within the last 2 years, he has expanded 10,000 sq. ft equipped with Nautilus, Kinesis, largest selection of free weights, and cutting-edge Sorinex training equipment, found in NFL, NBA, UFC, and military training facilities. The facility includes landmines, battle ropes, sleds, and plyometric agility equipment, all designed to help members push their limits. Steve’s deep dedication to improving the lives of his members shines through every aspect of the gym, including the 24/7 Circuit Boxing Room, which features open turf and functional training units, ensuring that every member can train at their convenience and at the highest level.
Steve’s passion extends beyond physical fitness. As a licensed Diet Doc clinician for over 18 years, he offers personalized nutrition and weight loss strategies through The Diet Doc Permanent Weight Loss Center of Fairmont, by coaching Thousands of clients to achieve their health and weight-loss goals with proper training and nutrition uniquely designed for each client.

Newest member of the cleaning crew at Nautilus connections, she looks up to her older sister Clare Connor but doesn’t stand in her shadow. Maggie is a valued part of the staff and is dedicated to keeping the gym spotless, ensuring every member can enjoy a better, more motivating workout space. She grew up spending most her time in the outdoors, but has a deep passion for cheerleading and gymnastics. Although she’s originally from Sugar Grove WV, she quickly became a part of the Fairmont family, starting at Nautilus Connections in June of 2025.
Maggie is a sophomore at Fairmont State University studying Business Administration, and she enjoys spending time with my church life group, exploring the outdoors, or being in the gym. She was a cheerleader for 10 years and did gymnastics for 5 years in her hometown, but being a part of Nautilus has allowed her to transfer her passion for the sport to the gym. Working at Nautilus has created positive connections for her and the members that attend encourage and motivate her to keep the gym in peak shape. “The atmosphere that Nautilus Connections offers is unlike what other gyms offer, and I am honored to be a member of the staff team. I look forward to welcoming new members and keeping the gym up to your standards!”

Gabrielle is from the Fairmont area, and is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor with a passion for helping others find balance, strength, and a little more peace in their everyday lives.
Yoga found her during a season when she needed it most. What started as a way to move her body became a practice that helped her slow down, breathe through life’s challenges, and reconnect with herself. It reminded Gabrielle that taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. That experience inspired her to become a teacher so she could help others discover what yoga has to offer, both on and off the mat.
Outside of teaching, she is a licensed esthetician, and wellness has always been at the heart of what she does. Whether Gabrielle is caring for someone’s skin or guiding a yoga class, her goal is the same: to help people feel good in their own bodies, build confidence, and take time to care for themselves.
Gabrielle truly believes yoga is for everyone, and that you don’t have to be flexible, experienced, or know all the poses to belong in her class. Her hope is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are. Her motto is “We’ll move, breathe, learn, and grow together—one class at a time”.
She is excited to begin this journey with our community and she can’t wait to meet you on the mat!

Fitness has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I spent 13 years as a competitive swimmer and basketball player. I also challenged myself through triathlons and running as an adult. When it comes to the gym, sometimes I feel like it is my home away from home having been involved in weightlifting for over 15 years. I was also trained and commissioned as a United States Marine Corps officer, an experience that shaped my understanding of discipline, perseverance, and leadership. Those lessons continue to influence how I approach training today. I believe that progress comes from showing up consistently, being willing to work hard, and remembering your bigger picture goals even when results don't happen overnight.
One of the things I enjoy most about coaching is helping people understand their own bodies. I'm passionate about nutrition and whole-body health, and I believe fitness is about much more than the number on a scale or the weight on a barbell. Learning to listen to your body, understanding what motivates you to be healthy, and building habits that fit your particular life are all essential parts of creating lasting health. My goal is to help people feel stronger, move better, and enjoy life more fully through fitness.
Outside of training, I serve as the Camp Director for a local nonprofit and the Operations Director for a remote startup company. In my free time, you may find me backpacking, hiking, lifting weights, working on construction projects, reading, or spending time outdoors. Whether I'm coaching clients, running a service camp, or rucking through the WV mountains, I'm driven by a love of growth, challenge, and service to others.
